Apartment refurbishment, Berlin Neukölln

Renovation of an 85sqm late 19th century flat with three rooms to the front, service spaces to the back and a narrow dark corridor in between

The aim of the refurbishment was to create a modern two bedroom apartment that is bright and open while retaining as many of the old features as possible as well as other layers from the later years of refurbishment, such as kitchen tiles from the 70ies re-used in the bathroom. Equally the interior design was guided by the desire to show layers of time by furnishing with a selection of vintage furniture from local shops mixed with new designs from Berlin creative studios and many custom-made carpentry pieces. A palette of blues and greens harmonizes with the warm timber and orange tones of the vintage pieces.
